Penzoil Marine 2-cycle oil????

bmurray Has or is, anyone using this outboard oil and can you give me some input. How does it compare to the OMC Johnson oil? Both are TC-3W oils. Walmart sells Penzoil for $20.00 per 2.5 gal. Sounds like a good deal if it works. Thanks for any input. 2002-06-01
Ross J Here in New Zealand Penzoil is nearly half as much again the price of it's nearest competitor in the 4ltr pack. However having said that I won't run on anything else. A friend is a mechanic and I've found purchasing it in 25ltr containers makes it cheaper 2002-06-01
45Auto hi bmurray,

I have used the Pennzoil Synthetic Blend in a Force 120 for 2 years and been very happy with it. No problems, very little smoke. Plugs stay very clean. $10 a gallon here at Walmart.

J.B. Cornwell Howdy, BMurray.

I have used Wal-Mart's SuperTech brand TC-W3 oil in my 2 strokes for several years and had excellent results. I have been told by a reliable source that SuperTech is Pennzoil.

Good luck. [Smile]

dhammann I run Walmart supertech products in everthing I own, never had any problems. Over 270,000 miles on a truck,160k on a car, 12 years on a tractor and countless hours on the water. Also use thier filters. I usually grossly exceed recommended change intervals, so I think this is proof enough. 2002-06-01
bmurray Thanks for all of the replies, I bought the 2.5 gal jug of the Penzoil. I will update everyone on how it works for me.

Thanks again, Bob

seahorse5 If the container says Pennzoil Premium Plus partial synthetic blend, it is better oil than most other brands. It doesn't have as much detergency as OEM brands though, but it is OK. If the container just says Pennzoil outboard oil, it is just run of the mill stuff. 2002-06-01
smalloutboardsarecool as long as any oil is meeted to the tc30 you shoulfbe fine? right? el verde? si? 2002-06-01
dharrin1 All you jokers!!!
Go to your outboard engine repair man for these little things like oil and plugs. The few bucks more that you may pay will keep him in business for when you need him.
Try to have mr Walmart or mister K-mart to get out of his shop and have a look at your engine and in the end give you free advice!!!!!

bmurray I agree with helping the small business man, but you must look at the markup on the factory parts that he charges little ole me, "the single income family". You can't get them from Walmart. And this is not to mention the price of the boats he is selling. Besides, if he wanted my business he would be open longer hours and would be open on Sundays, when the workin man can get there to get the things he needs. Try to find many marine dealers open past 4:30 or 5:00 during the week. Sorry for going on and on, but the dealers around Festus, Missouri, can go for a boat ride down river without a motor!!! 2002-06-02
aeronutt29 It's a little off-topic, but I have a friend who flies a 2-stroke powered airplane. His engine siezes up and causes "unplanned landings" on any oil OTHER than Penzoil! With the trusty yellow bottle, he has flown several hundred hours now without another engine siezure.
